From the quiet comes creation
A space with no distractions or outside "noise." A place to create a new podcast, a new song, a new book or simply a fresh new perspective.
Every day is an opportunity To tune out and create
Sometimes it feels like the world wants you to keep your head down. To scroll and mindlessly stare. To stay "connected" in order to seek validation and attention. I am striving for deeper thought, more critical and independent thinking and more creation. Do you ever feel like the world isn't as unique and creative as it used to be? Do people listen to full-length albums anymore? Will movie theaters be a thing of the past? What happened to face to face conversations? Are people truly listening? Is artistic achievement possible in such a capitalistic and tech driven culture?Learn more
The Downward Facing
SPiritual Spiral Podcast
Instagram is dramatically impacting the world and turning human beings into robots. The Spiritual Spiral is here to bring awareness to the negative effect of social media and inspire you to turn off your phone and value your free time. We live in a day and age where there's more conformity and less independent thinking. Join artist, writer and yoga teacher Eddie Cohn as he discusses the impact of tech while he interviews musicians, yoga teachers and artists to talk about how social media and the media affects their lives and what we can all do to be more creative and less distracted.
EP 172 - Dan Lutz
Today on the Spiritual Spiral Podcast, I'm thrilled to welcome drummer/musician and my friend, Adam Gust to the show. I actually met Adam almost 20 years ago after he responded to an ad I placed in Music Connection where I was looking for a drummer. Adam has played the drums on my first three records and all the music on today's episode features my own songs with Adam on drums. I realized after speaking with Adam how much I respect people and particularly men who aren't hierarchical but care more about feelings and compassion over being right, first or the best. Adam and I talk about how social media is driving the ego driven landscape of our culture and why narcissism is on an exponential rise. Adam shares stories from childhood about how he became interested in the drums, why he considers himself more of a "musician for hire" and he talks about the psychological trauma that stemmed from a hand injury which almost took away his lifelong passion and joy for the drums. He also shares some inspirational books and lessons he learned after facing and dealing with "triggers" stemming from his hand injury. You can find Adam on IG @adamgust and if you enjoy today's episode and you want to support the show, please consider sharing the show with your friends or head over to iTunes and write a quick review.
