From the quiet comes creation
A space with no distractions or outside "noise." A place to create a new podcast, a new song, a new book or simply a fresh new perspective.
Every day is an opportunity To tune out and create
Sometimes it feels like the world wants you to keep your head down. To scroll and mindlessly stare. To stay "connected" in order to seek validation and attention. I am striving for deeper thought, more critical and independent thinking and more creation. Do you ever feel like the world isn't as unique and creative as it used to be? Do people listen to full-length albums anymore? Will movie theaters be a thing of the past? What happened to face to face conversations? Are people truly listening? Is artistic achievement possible in such a capitalistic and tech driven culture?Learn more
The Downward Facing
SPiritual Spiral Podcast
Instagram is dramatically impacting the world and turning human beings into robots. The Spiritual Spiral is here to bring awareness to the negative effect of social media and inspire you to turn off your phone and value your free time. We live in a day and age where there's more conformity and less independent thinking. Join artist, writer and yoga teacher Eddie Cohn as he discusses the impact of tech while he interviews musicians, yoga teachers and artists to talk about how social media and the media affects their lives and what we can all do to be more creative and less distracted.
EP 158 - Tamal Dodge (Visit # 2)
"We are all souls transcendentally connected beyond our social, national, racial, political, and occupational circumstances." - Tamal Dodge. Today on the Spiritual Spiral, I am thrilled to welcome yoga teacher, studio owner, Jiu Jitsu instructor, movement coach and my friend Tamal Dodge to the podcast. This is Tamal's second visit to the show and with everything happening within our society, from the pandemic, the polarization, the cancel culture and the reshaping of yoga studios, the timing couldn't have been better to chat with Tamal. He always has a way of putting the complexity and nuances of life into perspective. We touch on a multitude of topics ranging from the hypocrisy swirling around in the yoga community, the dramatic rise in suicide and the toxicity that stems from living in a culture that is so quick to "cancel." We discuss the value of quiet time and meditation, timing, spirituality, the true meaning of the word "guru" and we wonder how technology and mask wearing may impact children. Tamal is opening a brand new online yoga studio called BODHI Live that will include online yoga, meditation and fitness and it's set to launch in January so be sure to check it out. You can also find Tamal on IG by clicking HERE and if you enjoy today's episode and want to support the show, please consider sharing the show with your friends or head over to iTunes and write a quick review.
